A classic Michael B Jordan film is airing on TV tonight (Saturday, April 19) as his new horror film hits cinemas across the UK.

In what’s being called the film of the year to date by critics, Sinners looks poised to be another box office winner for the 38-year-old.

Reuniting with his Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, Sinners sees Jordan playing twin brothers who return to their hometown to start again, only to be confronted by a supernatural evil.

Boasting a staggering score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film is looking to prove that there’s still a big place for original movies in cinemas.

Jordan broke out in HBO drama The Wire, before continuing to learn his craft on television on Friday Night Lights.

While he appeared in 2012’s Chronicle and gave a terrific performance in 2013’s Fruitvale Station, also directed by Coogler, it was his first movie with the director that proved he was a star.

Released in 2015, Creed is the first spin-off and the seventh instalment of the Rocky film series. Rather than focusing on Sylvester Stallone, Creed tells the story of Apollo Creed’s son Adonis.

Trained and mentored by Rocky Balboa, Adonis slowly learns how to go from being an amateur boxer into a superstar.

In what’s arguably the best Rocky film, Creed doesn’t pull its punches with its examination of grief and enthralling boxing scenes.

Pulling in $173 million at the worldwide box office and receiving acclaim from critics, Creed earned itself two sequels.

The second sequel saw Jordan step behind the camera and fans have been demanding a fourth journey with Adonis since its release in 2023.

Speaking to GQ about the fourth film, Jordan said: “Yeah, the fourth one, eventually, not sure when, but we left that door open to build on that franchise.

“My thing is like, I don’t wanna make a movie just to make it, give it a little time to breathe, make people want it, miss it a little bit. And when the time is right, I’ll drop in and do another one.”

Before you go to the cinemas to see Sinners, why not go back to Jordan and Coogler’s finest collaboration to date.

Creed airs on ITV4 and ITVX at 10.55pm on Saturday, April 19
