Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders don’t officially go live until April 8, but some UK retailers have opened their doors a little early.

After months of anticipation, we finally know much more about the Nintendo Switch 2 console, including how much it will cost and when we’ll get our hands on it. Detailed in a lengthy video presentation, the Japanese console maker and game publisher revealed all from what the hardware is capable of to the game’s coming to the system soon.

Although Nintendo didn’t mention the price of the console in the presentation, retailers were quick to reveal prices shortly after. The main console will cost £395.99, while a version bundled with Mario Kart World will set gamers back £429.99.

Pre-orders are expected to go live widely on April 8, but there are a few select retailers in the UK that have jumped the gun. Places like Argos and Very are already taking money from the pockets of players in return for a guaranteed Nintendo Switch 2 arriving at their door on June 5, 2025.

However, these pre-orders are already selling out extremely quickly with the standalone console already showing limited stock at Argos. If you want to secure a Nintendo Switch 2 for yourself, you’ll need to act fast.

We’ve rounded up all the information you need to pre-order a console at Argos, Amazon or Very right now. Alternatively, we’ve also included links to other retailers that are worth bookmarking for next week.

If you want to look for other consoles, you can grab the PS5 Pro for £699 at Argos right here with a special offer that includes a stand for the console.

How much is the Nintendo Switch 2 and what can I buy?

The Nintendo Switch 2 base console will cost £395.99, but a console bundle with the new Mario Kart World will cost £429.99. There will also be other extras that you will be able to buy including a new Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller, a USB-C camera for chat features and of course, new games that you’ll be able to enjoy when the console releases.

But what do shoppers get for that big price tag? You’ll get a 7.9-inch wide colour gamut LCD 1080p screen, HDR10 support and VRR up to 120 Hz. There’s 256GB of storage included on the console with the option to upgrade it with MicroSD cards.

There’s also the Nintendo Switch 2 dock with 2 USB Ports (USB 2.0 compatible) on the side, a HDMI port and a LAN port.

Nintendo showed off that some games would be able to output at 4K 60fps in some circumstances but depending on the game, results may vary.

Where can you pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 right now?

To combat scalping, Nintendo is sending out invites to allow its most dedicated audience to pre-order first. Invites are already being sent to some Nintendo fans via email, so make sure you check. Invitees can pre-order from April 8.

There are some strict requirements, including having two years of continuous Nintendo Switch Online membership, certain play time on games and purchases from the store. It’s a tough requirement so not everyone will get it.

Amazon is also joining Nintendo with invites. You can request an invite to buy the console right here.

However, some stores, including Argos, Very and Smyths Toys, opened pre-orders late last night with them selling out quickly. If you want to try your luck, gamers can watch Very here and Smyths Toys here.

We’re expecting other stores to open pre-orders at random starting this week. Here’s a list of stores to keep an eye on:

This is just a small sample of the sites where we expect pre-orders to go live very soon. When we see more, we will add them to the list so shoppers can hopefully grab a console.
