A huge new pop musical based on Princess Diana will be getting its joint world premiere in Greater Manchester this summer.

The Diana Mixtape, which has been described as a ‘high-octane royal romp’ will feature music from the likes of Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue and Ariana Grande alongside a retelling of the ‘iconic story of the people’s princess’.

The musical will feature a line-up of international and UK drag queens taking on the role of Diana through various parts of her life, including Australia’s Courtney Act, America’s Rosé and British stars Kitty Scott-Claus, Divina De Campo and Baby.

The synopsis for the show reads: “You are cordially invited to join our Di, the People’s Princess, for the gig of a lifetime…quite literally! THE DIANA MIXTAPE tells the story of a humble commoner (who just happened to be a Lady) in a concert like nothing you have experienced before with an all star cast, iconic fashion throwbacks and fierce choreography.”

The show has been created, written and directed by TuckShop’s Christopher D Clegg, who has previously been at the helm of the popular Death Drop who-dunnit, which has toured the world with its drag-inspired murder mystery.

Tickets for the production are available to purchase now on The Lowry’s website, with prices starting from £24.50 here for the ‘strictly limited’ run.

Speaking about the production, creator Christopher posted on Instagram: “So… I’ve been working on this one for TWO YEARS… and I can finally scream about it. THE DIANA MIXTAPE is a loving and heartfelt, yet fierce and fabulous, tribute to the one and only peoples princess. It’s wild. You’ll love it.

“We’ve got an AMAZING line up playing Diana (yes, all 5 of them…you’ll see…) made up of queens I loved and have worked with before, and queens I adore but haven’t worked with yet. The best of the best.
