The series in question first began airing in 2016
A Channel 4 star has addressed the future of a popular series as it remains off-screen over a year since its last episode.
The broadcaster currently airs a range of shows adored by the public, including Gogglebox, Taskmaster and The Great British Bake Off.
But one of its most popular of the last decade is Naked Attraction, which has become a bizarre phenomenon since its premiere back in 2016.
The series is a dating show with a major twist, with a clothed single person having to choose between six nude potential partners.
Hidden behind different coloured booths, more of the contestants’ bodies are revealed from bottom to top as they’re voted off by the single person.
It has drawn a number of complaints by viewers to Ofcom, due to the amount of full-frontal nudity shown in each episode.
Sadly for fans of Naked Attraction, which is presented by Anna Richardson, no new episode has aired since March 2024, with big question marks surrounding its future.
Speaking to The Mirror, Anna confirmed fans’ fears that Channel 4 don’t have any current plans for the series to make its comeback.
“Unfortunately not, that’s down to Channel 4 and the team at Studio Lambert. But I too am desperate for this to come back – it’s my favourite show ever.
“I think we should all petition to Channel 4 to get the next season out there as soon as possible,” she said.
When it comes to what made her want to present Naked Attraction, Anna admitted that she’s ‘drawn to bold and unconventional projects’.
She explained: “I’m bold and unconventional myself. My dad’s a vicar and my mum’s an RE teacher, and so there were all types of people who walked through our vicarage door all the time.
“I was told I had to be a ‘good girl’ and that there were certain things we couldn’t talk about – which I always rallied against. I must’ve been a nightmare!
“But that inquisitiveness drove me throughout my career to Naked Attraction. And while it was great telly and we all had a bit of a giggle, at the heart of it, the show was all about facing stigma.”
Anna added: “We faced stigma, bias and misconceptions – quite literally – face-on, which I loved, because it helped us to address real conversations that needed to be had in our communities.”
With 65 episodes of the series to choose from, Anna opened up about how she avoids getting embarrassed while on hosting duties.
“It takes a lot to shock me, so in moments like that my natural response is to go straight to duty of care – to make sure the contestant is comfortable, safe and will be cared for.
“Nothing you can do or say would embarrass me, I’ve seen it all… I’ve learnt so much about the human body than I thought I would by my age, that I really should be an honorary medic.”
